How many eye colors are there?

I have asked this question at every introduction seminar I have taught on Iridology.

The responding answers include:

“3! Green, Blue, Brown”

Or..

“Unlimited? Based on the Spectrum of Eye Hues”

I tell the audience, ‘you’re all right!’

Here’s why.

I have seen hundreds of people’s eyes up close, and there seems to be blue, grey, hazel, yellow, blue grey, turquoise, brown, and dark brown, and many other colors in-between.

Why then ask this question?

The reason is to identify how many true eye colors there exist.

You see, in Iridology, there is said to be only TWO true eye colors… Brown and Blue.

Every other color came about as a result of interracial mixing over thousands of years, and differences in the health.
 
For example, a blue eye can become green over the years, if there is yellow hues that become created from poor uric acid metabolism.
 
A brown eye could change in hue if there is red that comes up, which will often indicated changes in the pituitary gland.
 
There is much to explore in color patterns, and the designs of eyes, and Iridology is the study that uncovers what color patterns indicate.

 

Sleeping Cycles

A late evening last night has be exploring the concept of polyphasic sleep cycles, wherein instead of having one sleep that is one large block of 7-9 hours (otherwise known as monophasic sleep cycles), the sleep is broken into 2, or more, distinct “sleep/nap zones.” In the summer I had the opportunity to experiment with this, I would fall asleep between 11pm and 1am, and would rise at about 3-5 am naturally, and would stay up and do some research/prayer/converse with another loved one that was trying this cycle out at the time. I would then either choose to stay awake until about 1pm, in which I would have a 1 and a half hour nap, or I would stay up for 2 hours, only to fall back asleep mid morning for an hour. If you ever notice that you find yourself waking and feeling great in the “middle of the night,” there is the possibility that it is just part of your natural cycle. The True Cost of Cheap Food

“Maybe we should stop asking why healthy food is expensive, and start asking why processed food is so cheap”

I find this to be particularly true when it comes to choosing “cleaner/fresher” cookies & chips, versus packaged ones. Often times the oils that are found to preserve the cookies that are under $4.00 are made up of what is known as hydrogenated oils. These are oils (let’s take canola oil as an example), that have been bleached, deodorized (removes the chlorophyll), refined (eliminates anti-oxidants vitamin E, etc..), and ends up as an empty TRANS-FAT RICH food. You know, the kind that helps promote cellulite, wrinkles, long-term difficulty in losing weight, high triglycerides, all that un-welcome kind of shiz. Beware of labels reading (0 trans fat), Canadian standards allow for up to 0.9 grams of trans fat to be present without having to say that any is present. Read the ingredients instead.

Get Rid of Acne With These Nutritional Changes

Acne is a common issue that can and should be addressed internally. While most people see acne as an issue to be covered up by ‘flawless’ makeup, or using special creams, the skin is an organ that tell us the health of what is going on internally. Acne is not a one-supplement, or one-herb fix all concern, as there are various reasons that understood by science, as to the possible triggers of why acne can come up… including:

– high insulin levels from refined sugar intake, leading to inflammation and breakouts

What Is Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy For Men?

Is there such a thing as Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men?

Stephen Harrod Buhner, author of ‘The Natural Testosterone Plan” writes a compelling backdrop of the use of herbs for men to restore their hormones.

Phytoestogens, herbs that stimulate estrogen production, have long been known of and used by women. These herbs go by names such as black cohosh and donq quai.

Phytoandrogens, herbs that stimulate androgenic activity in men is relatively new. Phytoandrogens do the same things that phytoandrogens do, except they do it for men and they do not supply estrogen, they provide androgens. Phytoandrogens increase the body’s level of free testosterone, and they shift the androgen/estrogen balance more toward the androgen side of the equation.

Pine pollen, eleutherococcus, and tribulus are some of the examples of plants that can stimulate the production of androgens in the body. Though these are not to be seen as ‘testosterone’ replacement as stand alone’s, here are some numbers to think about:

Black pine pollen contains the following androgens: androstenedione (0.7 – 0.8 mcg per 10 g), testosterone (0.7 mcg per 10 grams), DHEA (0.1 mcg per 10 grams), and androsterone (0.2 mcg per 10 grams).
Although these amounts might seem small, recall that it takes as little as four nanograms (one-thousandth of a microgram) to change the sex to male while developing in the womb. That can be represented as 0.004 micrograms.

There is and can be used herbs for many uses, and from what emerging research, and ancient use of herbs is showing, there may just be such a thing as natural hormone replacement therapy for men, when done right.

I Meet My Clients Where They Are At

Nutritionists, the scariest people since Frankenstein.

I’ve been in the industry of Holistic Health since 2008, and I have felt at times that it can be filled with a lot of frightening aspects such as…
-Labels that aren’t readily understood
-Diet principles that run against everything you ever believed
-Kombucha scoby’s that look like alien babies
-Adrenal fatigue
-Heavy metal issues

In truth, this industry of holistic health, and more specifically, nutrition, is not meant to be understood in a single book or diet regimen.

Nutritionists are well-meaning but sometimes unaware to the fact of the intimidation factor of getting into new patterns of eating.

I strive to keep aware of the unique challenges that my clients have, and work with the comfort level being presented. We are not all runners, and I have been told by several clients that a gift that I have to bring to people is grace and patience.
When there is a teacher or role that I am serving for clients, it is just as important that I remember to not create obstacles for clients by expectations that they do not buy into themselves. I take my clients word and work with them to create changes that makes sense.

Reflections on Grieving a Close Friend

When grief hits your doorstep, it will shock and plunge the energy of your body. Grief cannot help but sit tight on the chest, and lungs, creating a feeling of tension and disturbance.

Three weeks ago I received the shock of my life, a close friend had taken their life. My heart poured out for his family, the pain he had experienced to have done this, and the heartbreak that his close friends and coworkers were feeling.
The grief I could feel draining my desire to eat, and disturbing my sleep. The processing had begun.

Amidst the visitation and funeral, I began to ask questions,…
Is it honest or stupid to offer myself or his mother a Bach flower remedy for processing grief? Would that be insensitive to myself or her, in dealing with this change?

I have seen transitions as necessary points that I must feel and process, as this is the way that learning, appreciation, grieving, and growing occur. I have not taken any aids, I have instead just allowed myself to feel through this one, knowing that it will take it’s time, but it will pass.

If the grief creates stagnation in my life, unnecesasarily (there is a time to grieve, and there is a time to grow), I will likely work with certain plants to assist and resolve any unsettled feelings. Until then, I am taking care to feel blessed that I knew this man, and supporting his loved ones in the ways that I can, with company and simple service.

You Hate Vegetables… Keep Going

What is Love? Baby don’t hurt me… don’t hurt me… no more!

These were the words running through my mind the first few times I ever decided that I was going try and eat bok choy without crying.

It sounds silly, and it is !

This beckons… how did I ever become a nutritionist if I hated MANY vegetables.
I like to say.. LOVE.

I’ll tell you something crazy. When I was first getting onto a path of eating in a way that honored my body, I made a commitment to eat greens every day. I remembered that within love, there is patience, dedication, understanding. I had to get that Bok choy just isn’t chicken fingers. It’s not icecream. Bok choy is bok choy. As I understood this, I began to do something miraculous… I began to enjoy bok choy.

I stopped trying to make it something it wasn’t. I disallowed myself to put such impossible standards on something that cannot help to be itself. When I let it simply be, it allowed me the space to stop hating on it so badly. To mask it, and force it to be something it wasn’t.

Thankfully, I had something else working for me, and this is the taste buds, and gut taste receptors. You see, with new foods introducing themselves into your life, these start to change and adjust and allow for new, more ‘friendly’ responses to foods outside of your norm.

It’s not crazy to hate something at first, it is crazy to expect that you’re going to fall in love with new things right away. Patience, dedication, understanding, all play a role in the LOVE needed for a new lifestyle to fit into your pocket.
